Over the past week, some questions have been raised around the circulating supply of $MAT. We know the community relies on clear and accurate data to make informed decisions, and that’s something we take seriously. Today we want to share what happened, how it was resolved, and why the outcome is ultimately a positive sign for Matchain’s long-term fundamentals.
What Happened
Recently, $MAT’s circulating supply figures on CoinMarketCap and other aggregators showed inflated numbers; first ~19M, then ~14M. After reviewing the data and working through the issue, we can confirm the actual figure is ~8.7M MAT, and reporting has now been corrected.
The discrepancy began after an update to our API introduced a classification error, which caused BNB Chain balances to be counted as additional circulating supply. Aggregators simply read what our endpoint provided. In reality, those tokens were already part of the total supply, not newly unlocked circulation.
How We Fixed It
- First update – An API change pushed the reported number to ~19M.
- Community flagged error – Holders quickly reported the discrepancy.
- Quick fix – A patch brought the number down to ~14M, but the core miscount remained.
- Final fix – We traced the classification issue, rebuilt the API logic, resynced with data providers, and the figure now reflects the true ~8.7M MAT.
What Was (and Was Not) Unlocked
No tokens were released outside of the official emission schedule. The swings were reporting errors only, not unlocks, not emissions, and not new supply. On-chain balances have remained fully aligned with Matchain’s vesting model throughout.
Emission Schedule vs. Reality
As of September 3rd, 2025, our published schedule projected a circulating supply of roughly 12M MAT (~12% of max). In reality, only ~8.7M MAT (~8.7% of max) is circulating, about 3.3M fewer tokens, or 27% below schedule.

This means:
- Scarcity is stronger than expected → just 8.7% of supply circulating versus 12% projected.
- A hidden cushion → ~3.3% of supply remains locked that might have been assumed live.
- Conservative pacing → Unlocks are unfolding more slowly, supporting long-term sustainability.
Team, advisor, and treasury allocations remain locked. Ecosystem growth allocations are being deployed carefully and strategically, not rushed.
How This Makes us Stronger
This episode highlights more than a technical correction, it underscores Matchain’s core strengths:
- Scarcer than projected – Circulating supply is well below schedule, making $MAT tighter than many expected.
- Transparency in practice – We’ve explained what happened, shared the timeline, and rebuilt the reporting logic with clarity.
- Trust reinforced – There were no hidden unlocks or surprises, just reporting catching up to on-chain reality.
- Healthier growth – Slower emissions reinforce stability and long-term value creation.
In short, what first looked like a supply issue has become confirmation of stronger fundamentals, greater scarcity, and our commitment to clarity and trust. The community deserves accurate, reliable data, and we will continue to uphold that standard as we build Matchain together.
